The pain is real, and it’s hitting home.
The rap world is reeling from the sudden, tragic death of Atlanta rapper Young Scooter, who died on his 39th birthday, March 28. But while fans mourn a street legend, no one’s pain is more palpable than his son, Kenneth Bailey Jr., who took to social media with a series of gut-wrenching messages that reveal the depth of his loss.
In a heartbreaking post on Instagram, Bailey Jr. wrote:
“You crushed everything in me that’s all to it. Never gone heal I’ll deal wit it tho.”

On his Instagram Stories, he shared even more raw emotion:
“You got me sick asl bruh. We tight as ever. I learned everything from you… Ain’t never hid nothing from me. Told me everything and yo shi safe wit me.”
“Man got me crying every 10 mins… I just ain’t know how to express myself to you because you ain’t here no mo. Love you my dawg.”
THE TRAGIC DETAILS:
According to the Atlanta Police Department, officers responded to a call about possible gunfire and a domestic dispute at a residence on William Nye Drive. When police arrived, the person who answered the door slammed it shut. A perimeter was set up, and two suspects attempted to flee from the back of the home.
One of them was Young Scooter, born Kenneth Bailey. While the other suspect stopped and complied with police commands, Scooter kept running—scaling two fences before police found him suffering from a serious leg injury. Officers applied a tourniquet on the scene, but sadly, he was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
WHY THIS MATTERS:
Scooter wasn’t just another rapper. He was a fixture in Atlanta’s underground rap movement, respected for his raw storytelling and gritty realism. He came up alongside Future and Gucci Mane, and though he never craved the spotlight, he carved a loyal fanbase with truth-heavy tracks that echoed the pain of the streets.
But beyond the music, he was a father, a teacher to his son, and the backbone of his circle. And now, we’re watching a young man grieve in real time—heart exposed, world shattered.
KMOB1003 TAKE:
This is more than a headline. It’s a life lost and a son left broken. Young Scooter was real, flawed, brilliant, and deeply loved. As his son’s words ring out across social media, one thing becomes crystal clear: this loss cut deep.
And we, too, feel the weight of it.
Rest in power, Scooter. Your legacy lives in your music, your family, and the streets that knew your name.
