Comedian Andrew Schulz is doubling down on his comments about Kendrick Lamar, after facing backlash for jokes that many interpreted as offensive and racially charged. Schulz, never one to back down from controversy, addressed the situation in a recent appearance on The Breakfast Club.
Schulz Defends His Kendrick Lamar Comments
The conversation was sparked by Kendrick’s lyrics on “wacced out murals”, where he raps:
“Don’t let no white comedian talk about no Black woman.”
Many fans speculated this was a direct shot at Schulz, following his past comments about Megan Thee Stallion and Ice Spice. Schulz initially responded to the bar in an over-the-top manner, saying:
“I would make love to him and there’s nothing he could do about it… He could only decide if it’s consensual or not.”
On The Breakfast Club, Schulz attempted to clarify his stance, referencing Kendrick’s lyrics and his own controversial sense of humor:
“When I saw them in those jeans, I was like, ‘Bing-bop-boom-boom-boom-bop-bam.’ They made that sh*t racist so fast. I’m just saying he’s little! I hate having to explain jokes. He’s itty bitty, so why is he telling people to kill my friends?”
A Misunderstood ‘Threat’?
Schulz also took issue with Kendrick’s follow-up line:
“Slide on both of them.”
The comedian interpreted this as a threat and claimed he had every right to respond in his own way:
“If you say ‘kill my friends,’ everything after that is fine. You took it there. You gettin’ made love to.”
Co-host Loren Lorosa challenged Schulz’s framing, pointing out that Kendrick’s reaction was likely due to Schulz’s own jokes at the expense of Black artists. Schulz, however, stood firm:
“So say ‘make fun of my friends,’ not ‘slide on both of them.’ If he wants to play by those rules, don’t be surprised at the response.”
Schulz Closes with Respect for Kendrick
Despite the tension, Schulz ended by acknowledging Kendrick’s artistry:
“This whole thing got blown out of proportion. He’s a prolific rapper… to say he’s not fantastic at what he does is ridiculous.”
Kendrick Lamar Moves On
While Schulz continues to address the situation, Kendrick Lamar appears to have moved on. The Compton rapper has been focused on his Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show, his chart-topping album GNX, and the upcoming Grand National Tour with SZA.
At this point, it seems unlikely Kendrick will respond further—he’s letting the music do the talking.
Did Andrew Schulz take it too far, or is this just comedy?
