Outnumbered actors Claire Skinner and Hugh Dennis married privately nearly three years ago, a report has revealed.
The actors played Sue and Pete Brockman, the overwrought parents of three children in the sitcom, which ran from 2007 to 2014, with Christmas reunion specials airing in 2016 and 2024. The actors became a real-life couple after the show concluded in 2017 and, according to MailOnline, have wed in real life.
According to the article, the pair married in Westminster in June 2022. Dennis was seen last month wearing a wedding band on the TV show Lorraine, while Skinner wore both an engagement and wedding ring while promoting the comedy’s most recent Christmas special.
A source close to the situation told the outlet: “This is a real TV love story. They delighted fans when they fell in love outside of the show, having managed to keep it quiet. They are a low-key couple who wanted to keep this special for them. Only their family and close friends have known”.
Outnumbered was a huge ratings success for the BBC, with over 9million people watching the show at its height in 2012.
The show has received four BAFTA nominations: Best Situation Comedy, the Audience Award, and Best Comedy Performance for Claire Skinner in 2009; and Best Male Performance in a Comedy Role for Hugh Dennis in 2010. In addition, it has also won a Royal Television Society Award and three British Comedy Awards.
Last year, cast member Ramona Marquez, who played youngest child Karen, talked about the highs and lows of growing up in the public eye.
“I’ve never known any different,” she said. “I was so young. I do have some memories from before I was five, but not many. I hear about other instances in TV where young kids were exploited, and I feel lucky that we were always respected.”
