Millie Bobby Brown’s upcoming Netflix film The Electric State is getting a video game prequel.

The Electric State is “set in the aftermath of a robot uprising in an alternate version of the ’90s” and “follows an orphaned teenager who ventures across the American West with a cartoon-inspired robot, a smuggler, and his sidekick in search of her younger brother.” Brown will play the orphaned Michelle, with Chris Pratt, Giancarlo Esposito and Ke Huy Quan also set to star in the film. Anthony Mackie, Woody Harrelson and Brian Cox will voice various robots.

Directed by The Russo Brothers (Avengers: Endgame), The Electric State will be available to stream on Netflix from March 14.

Netflix has also confirmed a video game prequel will be released shortly afterwards. The Electric State: Kid Cosmo is a “bite-sized adventure puzzle game” that will be available on mobile from March 18 for all Netflix subscribers.

“Kid Cosmo needs your help! Blast through an ’80s-inspired puzzle adventure game-within-a-game alongside boy wonder Chris and his big sister Michelle as they navigate coming of age in the retro-futuristic world of The Electric State,” reads the official description. “This narrative-driven game takes place before the events of the movie and spans five years, blending gameplay with emotional storytelling to create an immersive experience.”

The Russo Brothers helped develop The Electric State: Kid Cosmo through their media company AGBO. “We want to tell new stories,” Joe Russo told Variety. “We want to tell new stories with new characters and new worlds that people haven’t seen before. We have three that we’re currently working on [and] the intention is for every world we build to have the scale and depth of a Star Wars universe, but in a different genre. And then we’ll build materials around those new worlds. We’ll tell stories in different ways using different media in those worlds.” However he also revealed he “would definitely be open” to making an Avengers video game.

Netflix previously released a video game tie-in to celebrate the launch of Squid Game season two. The streamer currently has a library of more than 120 games that are available at no extra charge to Netflix subscribers however in 2022, it was reported that less than 1 per cent of Netflix’s 221million subscribers actually play the games on offer.

In other news, Millie Bobby Brown has slammed numerous articles that have criticised her appearance. “I refuse to apologise for growing up. I refuse to make myself smaller to fit the unrealistic expectations of people who can’t handle seeing a girl become a woman,” she said. “I will not be shamed for how I look, how I dress, or how I present myself.”
