Confidence Man have said that they are already thinking about new material, and have teased collaborations with Orbital and Jungle. Read the interview below or watch it in full via the video above.
The Australian electro-pop band – comprised of Janet Planet and Sugar Bones – caught up with NME at the 2025 BRIT Awards in London last Saturday (March 1).
For the event, the duo were nominated in the international group of the year category alongside Amyl And The Sniffers, Future and Metro Boomin, and Linkin Park, although ultimately lost out to Fontaines D.C..
On the red carpet, the two shared what it was like to have such a huge response to their third album, ‘3AM (LA LA LA)’, and said that while the momentum was still sinking in, they were already thinking about what could come next.
“People have been loving it and it felt so good releasing new music,” said Janet Planet, while Sugar Bones added: “It’s always the best thing because you spend so much time putting it all together, so when you can finally put it out it feels great.
“We weren’t expecting [the BRIT nomination] at all. We were in Vegas absolutely wasted when we found out, but it was so exciting to hear and a bit surreal. It still is surreal…”
Speaking about what they have planned for 2025, Janet Planet said: “There is a lot of writing and a lot of collaborations planned. We’re working with a bunch of people who we didn’t have time to work with on the last record.”
She added: “I think we’re just looking forward to exploring a bit and seeing what happens when we have a bunch of time where we don’t have to do anything.” Sugar Bones continued: “After being on tour for a while you start getting itchy feet to get back into the studio. I feel like we’re already there now.”

As for when we can expect to hear new music, and what they look for in artists to consider a collaboration, Janet Planet said: “It’s still not 100 per cent there, but we’ll be writing with Orbital in a few weeks. We just did a session with Jungle as well, so we’ll see what happens.”
“With Orbital it was because they were such a massive reference for us. We already take so much from ‘90s culture, so it’s about if I like their stuff. They have to be relevant to us in some way too I guess.”
Sugar Bones added: “It’s about the attitude of an artist, that’s what makes it work or not. Even if it sounds a bit different, as long as they’ve got the same vibe and same energy, that’s the main thing.”
NME awarded ‘3AM (LA LA LA)’ four stars upon its release in October, writing: “Already the most fun live band around, you always feel that Confidence Man are on the precipice of becoming the kind of proper crossover pop stars that Bowen Yang might impersonate on Saturday Night Live. ‘3AM (LA LA LA)’, their most assured collection yet, proves they definitely have the tunes to match their outsized personas.”
It went on to be named as NME’s 20th best album of 2024. Confidence Man shared a new collaboration with Eliza Rose last week, titled ‘I Heart You’, from the deluxe edition of ‘3AM…’.
This summer will see the duo make appearances at London’s All Points East, Glasgow’s TRNSMT, Manchester’s Parklife and Bristol’s FORWARDS.
