Grimes has asked people to stop sharing images of her four-year-old son online, after he recently attended the White House with his father Elon Musk.

The Canadian artist (real name Claire Boucher) shares three children with the Tesla and SpaceX CEO: X Æ A-Xii (aka Lil X), Exa Dark Sideræl Musk, and Techno Mechanicus (aka Tau).

The former couple announced their split in September 2021, confirming that they had broken up after three years together but “still love each other”. Following Donald Trump’s historic US Presidential election win last November, Musk was appointed by the POTUS to lead his new Department Of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Earlier this month, Grimes hit out at the tech billionaire for parading Lil X around the Oval Office in the White House as Trump signed an executive order to bolster DOGE’s powers in government.

“This is X, and he is a great guy,” Trump said about the child in a viral video clip of the meeting. “High IQ. He is a high IQ individual.”

More footage and images of Lil X and his father with Trump then began circulating on social media, with Grimes writing: “He should not be in public like this. I did not see this, thank u for alerting me. But I’m glad he was polite. Sigh.”

This came in response to a fan, who said: “Lil X was very polite today! You raised him well. He was so cute when he told DJT ‘please forgive me, I need to pee’.”

During a new interview with TIME, Grimes discussed the reaction to her online post about the Oval Office appearance, and made a privacy plea. “It was like, ‘Grimes slams’, ‘Grimes speaks out’. It’s like, OK, it was a reply,” she told the publication.

“But I would really like people to stop posting images of my kid everywhere. I think fame is something you should consent to.”

She added: “Obviously, things will just be what they are. But I would really, really appreciate that. I can only ask, so I’m just asking.”

Grimes’ latest comments follow her accusing Musk of allegedly “ignoring” their child’s “medical crisis” last week. She did not reveal which child she was referring to, and has not disclosed any further details about the situation.

“I am sorry to do this publicly but it’s no longer acceptable to ignore this situation. This requires immediate attention,” Grimes wrote on X/Twitter – which was bought by Musk in 2022 for $44billion.

“If you don’t want to talk to me can you please designate or hire someone who can so that we can move forward on solving this. This is urgent, Elon.”

In a separate post, the singer and producer explained: “I’m not giving any details but he won’t respond to texts, call or emails and has skipped every meeting and our child will suffer life long impairment if he doesn’t respond asap, so I need him to fucking respond and if I have to apply public pressure then I guess that’s where we are at.”

Elsewhere, a video of Musk seemingly walking away from his four-year-old son as he left the stage at a MAGA rally went viral over the weekend. However, a longer clip from a different angle showed that he turned back to check on his child – with the pair then leaving the venue together.

Before finding out about Lil X attending the White House, Grimes had praised New York Times journalist Ezra Klein for his podcast that explored Trump’s first few weeks in office and the swell of MAGA.

“Ezra Klein is a national treasure,” she began. “Brings a right-wing guy on with an opposing viewpoint and they calmly come to a rough consensus analysis of the current situation. Politics desperately needs more of this vibe right now, for everyone’s sanity.” See the post above.

Last November, Grimes opened up about her custody battle with Musk over their children. Over the summer Grimes’ mother Sandy Garossino pleaded with Musk to let her 93-year-old mother see her great-grandchildren “one last time” while she was in “end-of-life palliative care”.

In 2023, Grimes sued Musk over the custody rights to Tau, claiming that he wasn’t letting her visit him. Musk is a father of 13 children in total, some of whom were conceived via IVF.

Grimes recently clarified her stance on Musk‘s controversial Nazi-like gestures at Trump‘s Presidential inauguration last month.

In other news, Grimes has shared two previously unreleased demos on Soundcloud: ‘I Don’t Give A Fuck, I’m Insane’ and ‘The Fool’.
