Kim Kardashian is standing firm against critics who questioned her daughter North West’s stage debut as Simba in The Lion King production at the Hollywood Bowl. On the latest episode of The Kardashians (February 20), Kim clapped back at those who doubted North’s talent, making it clear that the 11-year-old’s performance was about confidence and fun, not comparisons.
“She’s so proud of herself,” Kim said. “She did such a great job. And anyone that is hating on a kid is just a hater — she’s not there to be Mariah Carey.”
Kim didn’t hold back, adding, “And if anyone wants to hate on a child that is having the time of their lives, f–k you.”
North’s performance of “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King” quickly went viral in May 2024, with clips of her performance flooding social media. However, some critics speculated that her famous parents, Kim and her ex-husband Ye (formerly Kanye West), may have helped her land the role. Others accused the couple of “buying” the experience for North rather than her earning it on her own.
Kim shut down the negativity with confidence. “North is the moment,” she told cameras. “They want to see North West on a TikTok, on a this, on an anything. Because she’s a personality, a performer.”
NORTH’S SUPPORT SYSTEM: KIM & YE FRONT ROW AND PROUD
Despite the online chatter, North had a strong support system cheering her on. Both Kim and Ye attended the show, with the co-parents — who finalized their divorce in 2022 — sharing a proud moment as they congratulated their daughter backstage after the performance.
For North, who has already built a name for herself through her viral TikTok videos and stylish appearances, this stage debut marked another step toward the spotlight. And judging by her confidence and stage presence, this won’t be the last time the world sees North West owning the stage.
KMOB1003’S TAKE:
Let’s be real: Hating on an 11-year-old who’s chasing her dreams is a bad look. Whether or not North’s famous parents helped open the door, she stepped through it with confidence and made the moment her own. Plus, with her natural charisma and fearless spirit, North’s got star power that can’t be denied. As Kim said, “North is the moment.” And if this is just the beginning, we can’t wait to see what’s next.
