Lil Yachty just got real awkward talking about his past relationship with Mariah The Scientist, and it’s safe to say he’s not exactly proud of how it went down.
In a candid conversation on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast, Yachty opened up about dating Mariah back when they were in college—and from the way he squirmed in his seat, it’s clear the memories are a little uncomfortable.
“I was a sh*t person to her. She was really great, so great. So I get it,” Yachty admitted, avoiding eye contact. “She was a great person, though, man.”
Mariah The Scientist Spilled the Tea First
Mariah, who’s currently dating Young Thug, previously revealed on Yung Miami’s Caresha Please podcast that she and Yachty had a history before either of them were famous.
“I met him in high school,” she said. “By the time I got to college, we started dating, but his career was taking off. I didn’t know what to do or what I could even give him, ’cause I was just a broke college student.”
Mariah even wrote two songs for Yachty and gifted them to him on an iPod—but his response wasn’t exactly romantic.
Yachty’s Halfhearted ‘Apology’
When Shannon Sharpe pressed him about whether he wanted to apologize, Lil Boat dodged the question.
“Our relationship is such a long span, you know? Since high school, so it’s long and blurry,” he responded. “YOLO, bro. Shout out to her. Tons of love. And I respect her.”

Let’s be real—Yachty knows he fumbled, but he’s not exactly rushing to make amends. While Mariah’s been open about their past, it looks like Yachty would rather move on without revisiting the mistakes he made.
Either way, hip-hop loves a redemption arc—so maybe he’ll drop a song about it someday.
