Netflix have shared the opening credits for their Devil May Cry adaptation – and it is soundtracked by a Limp Bizkit classic.
Urban fantasy game Devil May Cry was first released in 2001. Heavily inspired by Dante’s epic poem The Divine Comedy and based on a scrapped idea for Resident Evil 4, the game follows demon hunter Dante as he battles various beasties who are trying to invade earth. A number of sequels followed, with the most recent being 2019’s Devil May Cry 5.
The Devil May Cry series has sold more than 32million copies and inspired comic books, official novels and now, a new Netflix animated series.
First announced back in 2018, Adi Shankar’s take on Devil May Cry is due for release this April on Netflix, with the eight-episodes inspired by 2005’s prequel Devil May Cry 3: Dante’s Awakening, which features a younger version of the demon hunter.
As well as an April 3 release date, Netflix have also shared the opening credits for Devil May Cry, soundtracked by Limp Bizkit’s nu-metal classic ‘Rollin’. Check it out below:
“In my Devil May Cry universe, each season will have a different feel to emulate the way each game has a different feel. That means a different theme song each season and a completely different title design each season,” said Shankar, sharing the clip on social media.
“Also … my Devil May Cry universe is set in a late ’90s/early 2000s PS2 era of the world. It’s not set in modern times. It’s set in my memory of the world, pre- and post-9/11. My music choices reflect this.” He went on to say the series will feature hits from that era as well as reimagined cuts from the gaming franchise. ”You are not prepared for this soundtrack. Anime is not prepared for this soundtrack.“

Last year, it was reported that Limp Bizkit were back in the studio working on the follow-up to 2021’s ‘Still Sucks’. In March, the nu-metal legends will be returning to the UK for their four-date ‘Loserville’ tour, which includes at stop at London’s Wembley Arena.
In other news, the creative director behind Dune: Awakening has revealed that the upcoming survival game had to avoid anything that could be considered a movie spoiler.
