Leanne Quigley and Jake Brown have been declared the winners of The Traitors UK season three.

Hosted by Claudia Winkleman, the reality series features a group of strangers holed in a castle in the Scottish Highlands, with a small selection of ‘Traitors’ attempting to eliminate the remaining ‘Faithful’ contestants without being detected.

After 12 episodes, eight murders and 14 banishments, Leanne and Jake were declared joint winners, taking home £47,300 each.

In a tense finale, Leanne and Jake successfully managed to banish the last remaining Traitor, Charlotte, but also sent home two innocent Faithfuls in Alexander and Frankie, which left many viewers furious.

“These abysmal people preventing the loveliest man in the world [Alexander] from getting the money,” wrote one particularly irate X user.

Another posted: “Alexander gone… This year’s Faithfuls were god awful. Give Claudia the money!”

Back in August, the BBC announced that they had renewed the show for a fourth season, and also confirmed there would be a celebrity version of the show, with both new series set to be recorded in 2025.

The application process for the next regular season is now open, with production company Studio Lambert stating that they are looking for “smart, funny and strategic people to take part in the ultimate game of trust and treachery”.

Members of the public must be 18 years of age or older and have the right to reside in the UK. Potential contestants have until February 9 to submit their applications – you can do so here.

In other Traitors news, season one winner Meryl Williams has spoken recently about being forced to escape a group of abusive teenagers. Williams, who has achondroplasia, a form of dwarfism, and said: “Living with this condition is something that you can’t hide. People see you straight away; they notice you straight away, you’re just an easy target.

“I got on the train, they sat opposite me because I’m sitting on the seats with tables, and so far they’ve said that I need a stepladder to get on the train, I’m a midget, they’ve watched dwarf throwing, they’ve taken videos of me, they’ve taken photos of me, they said I’ve got sausage fingers, and they’ve laughed at me.”

Sharing that she felt “really fucking shit” after the incident, she finished with a plea to fans: “If you ever see someone that’s different or with a disability, just please be kinder to them.”
