Jhené Aiko, the soulful voice behind hits like “Bed Peace,” is among the thousands of people affected by the devastating Los Angeles wildfires this week. The singer took to social media on Thursday (Jan. 9) to share heartbreaking news: her home was completely destroyed by the fires, leaving her family to start over from scratch.
“Our home burned to the ground with all of our things inside,” Jhené revealed. Despite the overwhelming loss, she expressed gratitude that her loved ones are safe. Her two-year-old son, Noah, whom she shares with Big Sean, and her 16-year-old daughter, Namiko, were unharmed. “Lord have mercy 🙏 Thankful we still have each other 💙 starting from scratch. My heart is so heavy 💔,” she wrote.
A Message of Resilience and Compassion
In another post, Jhené poured out her emotions and prayers for everyone impacted by the fires. “Praying for everyone this morning—those who lost their home, those who lost their life’s work, those who lost their life. Praying for my city, praying for the wildlife and lost pets, praying for the world 💙.”
She ended her message with a powerful sentiment: “Let suffering be a gift; a lesson in compassion.”
Jhené joins a growing list of celebrities who have lost their homes in the fires, including Paris Hilton, Anna Faris, Spencer and Heidi Pratt, Leighton Meester and Adam Brody, and Diane Warren, among others.
