Renowned artiste manager and entertainment pundit, Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson, popularly known as Bullgod, has urged the Electoral Commission of Ghana to consider rescheduling the country’s election date from December to an earlier time.
Speaking on Joy Prime’s Prime Morning show, Bullgod expressed concern over how the current election schedule impacts the entertainment industry, particularly during the festive season. According to him, the fear of potential election-related violence discourages many members of the diaspora from visiting Ghana in December, which subsequently affects attendance at creative events and hinders investment opportunities.
“I think one of the things we need to consider is shifting the date for elections,” he suggested.
“There was a rumour somewhere last year that they were going to put it in November. So I think we can do November like the Americas or even do it before that. What stops us? It’s just a day. The reason being that it affects investment. There’s a lot of money that comes in during that time.”

Bullgod further highlighted the financial losses event organizers face when they hold events post-elections, often resulting in lower turnout. He believes that an earlier election date would allow the festive season to proceed without the uncertainty that elections bring.
Addressing potential concerns about the transition process, Bullgod proposed constitutional amendments to guide the procedure if the election date is changed. He emphasized that Ghana should adapt to evolving circumstances rather than holding on to traditional practices.
“For me, the constant things in life have changed. We can’t be stuck in our ways unless they look at the revenue December brings to us and say it’s negligible because that timing is some way,” he argued.
