Pop sensation Ava Max, known for chart-topping hits like “Sweet But Psycho”, has a message for her fans: stop leaking her unreleased music. The star took to Instagram on Thursday morning (Jan. 2) to address the ongoing leaks of her demos, including a snippet of a new track called “Phenomenon.”

A Plea to Fans: Respect the Art

In her Instagram Story, Ava Max shared her frustration over the leaks, which she says are deeply disrespectful to her creative process. Alongside a screenshot of the visualizer for “Phenomenon”, she included a heartfelt note urging fans to stop sharing unfinished work.

“Ok yes, I have a lot of demos I’ve written that are not finalized records, and I’d appreciate it if you stop leaking these records,” Max wrote. She included a snippet of the mid-tempo dance track, which features an alluring Middle Eastern-inspired groove and the lyrics, “It’s a phenomenon-on/ One dance and then it’s gone-on/ One touch can make you wonder, wonder, what’s going on.”

Max went on to explain the challenges of managing unreleased material. “A lot of records I write do not ever see the light of day, and I understand your frustration, but this is not right. I write a lot of records I wish I could put out… It’s not right.”

A History of Leaks

This isn’t the first time Ava Max has faced leaks. Her sophomore album, Diamonds & Dancefloors, was delayed in 2023 due to a similar situation. At the time, Max expressed her disappointment in a now-deleted TikTok, sharing, “We’ve all worked so hard on Diamonds & Dancefloors, and I can’t wait for everyone to hear every single song on the album.”

Now, as she works on her highly anticipated third album, the leaks threaten to disrupt her artistic vision once again.

Why It Matters

For fans, these leaks may seem like an exciting glimpse into Ava Max’s creative process, but for the artist, they represent a breach of trust. Max’s music is a reflection of her growth and healing, as she revealed to Billboard last May, describing her third album as the beginning of a new, heartbreak-free era in her life. Songs like her 2024 release, “Spot a Fake”, showcase her evolution and passion for crafting meaningful, intentional pop music.

Max concluded her Instagram message with a stern warning: “I will find out who did this, like I usually do. So plz stop.”

At KMOB1003 Radio, we celebrate Ava Max for her talent, creativity, and ability to connect with fans through her music. But respecting the process is key. Leaks may seem harmless, but they rob artists of the opportunity to share their work on their terms.

We’re here for Ava Max and can’t wait to hear the new album when it’s ready. Until then, let’s give her the space she needs to perfect her art.
