The Vermont four-piece are on this week’s (November 25) edition of The Cover, a renewal of NME’s commitment to supporting emerging talent across the globe on a weekly basis. Every week, a rising artist will feature on The Cover – you can read the profile of Thus Love here, written by Patrick Clarke and featuring photography by Marisa Bazan.

To accompany The Cover, Thus Love have put together an exclusive playlist that celebrates fellow artists within their local community and further afield. ‘Our Friends’ includes tracks by Vermont’s Greaseface and Dari Bay, plus the likes of New Yorkers Native Sun and GIFT, Minnesotan indie-rock star Lutalo, and others. Listen to the full playlist on Spotify below and on Apple Music.

In The Cover, Thus Love open up about their dual lives as musicians, confronting their reality of both being able to tour overseas and sell out shows, but having to find new day jobs when they return home. “People will have a fantasy about who you are and what your art means to them, which is great – that is supposed to happen – but it’s a big shift from being a regular ass person in a tiny Vermont town,” says vocalist and guitarist Echo Mars.

The Cover arrives shortly after the band’s second album, ‘All Pleasure’ – a title that holds a lot of meaning to the four bandmates. “It’s a nice reminder for me personally that you have to find joy and pleasure to keep your head above the water if you want to keep being a band in this capacity,” bassist Ally Juleen explains.
