Ghanaian Reggae/Dancehall singer and  songwriter, Livingstone Etse Satekla has opened up about handling the negative criticisms he regularly faces in the music industry.

Speaking on Onua Showtime with McBrown on Sunday, November 3, 2024, the award-winning musician expressed that he often turns to prayer for guidance, seeking divine discernment to help him decide when to respond and when to stay silent.

He shared, “I rely on experience in dealing with attacks,” stressing that while insults are difficult to endure, he doesn’t believe people should grow accustomed to them.

The ‘Jejereje’ hitmaker likened public criticism to the metaphor that “only a ripe fruit gets pelted with stones,” noting that successful individuals often attract negativity. Despite the constant jabs, he emphasized the importance of focusing on one’s work and ignoring the noise.

Reflecting on the persistence of these attacks, he revealed that even on a recent morning, he had been the subject of harsh words, but he remains undeterred, choosing to concentrate on his goals rather than retaliate.

“I rely on experience in dealing with attacks. It’s not something we should be used to because I don’t believe that God created us to be used to insults in this world. For me, I pray for divine discernment to know when to talk, when not to talk. When to heal my wounds or when to give him rope and when to smack because it’s not easy,” he explained.
