The A24 movie will see Tyler make his feature film debut, having previously delved into acting lending his voice to the animated series Big Mouth in 2022.

Directed and co-written by Safdie, Marty Supreme also stars Gwyneth Paltrow, and in July it was announced that Timothée Chalamet was also on board to be involved as both an actor and a producer.

As per Variety, the film is set to be inspired by professional ping pong player Marty Reisman.

Reisman who was known as the “wizard of table tennis” began his career hustling in Manhattan, playing ping pong for bets and prize money. From 1947-2002, he played professionally, winning 22 ping pong titles and five bronze medals at the World Table Tennis Championships. He also competed, aged 67, in the United States National Hardbat Championship and became the oldest player to win an open national in a racket sport.

Marty Supreme has been written by Safdie and Ronald Bronstein, who will also produce. The film also sees Safdie reunite with producer A24, who distributed his last two films, Uncut Gems and Good Time.

In other news, Tyler recently issued a public apology to Eminem after he slammed the rapper’s ‘Recovery’ album in 2010.

Earlier this year, Tyler brought out Earl Sweatshirt to perform ‘AssMilk’ and ‘RUSTY’ at his Coachella headline set. The performance saw Earl perform a shortened version of ‘AssMilk’, which is taken from Tyler’s debut mixtape ‘Bastard’ (2009), marking the first time the song had been performed live since 2014.

In a four-star review of Tyler, The Creator’s 2024 Coachella headline setNME shared: “It’s a reflection of the rapper’s cult icon status and a rebuttal to those in his life who didn’t believe in him. “I told n****s I’m gonna have my Coachella one day, and they said, ‘Nope’ – they can all suck this dick right now,” he shares. After tonight, it feels unlikely that anyone will doubt him again.”
