Donald Trump became the first sitting President to attend a Super Bowl on Sunday (Feb. 9), when he watched two quarters of the Philadelphia Eagles’ dismantling of the Kansas City Chiefs on their way to a decisive 40-22 victory. The second termer also became the first commander in chief to post a nasty taunt of a pop star following the big game when he once again lashed out at Taylor Swift.
“The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift,” Trump posted on his Truth Social media platform on Sunday night in reference to the singer’s preferred team. “She got BOOED out of the Stadium. MAGA is very unforgiving!” Trump added, seemingly in reference to what sounded like a boo-bird greeting from some Eagles fans at the Caesars Superdome for the singer attending her second Super Bowl in support of boyfriend Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
The playground taunt from the leader of the free world also reposted a comment from the @libsoftiktok feed that read “Trump gets massive cheers at Super Bowl while Taylor Swift gets booed. The world is healing!” While it was unclear from the broadcast if ratings-obsessed Trump got the “massive” cheers claimed, the President did seem to have hedged his bets before the game in an interview with Fox News in which he predicted the Chiefs would win. “I have to go with Kansas City,” Trump said, praising KC quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ wife, Brittany, for being a “MAGA fan.”
The taunts from Trump, 78, continued his one-sided feud with Swift, who supported former President Joe Biden in 2020 when he defeated Trump and former VP Kamala Harris in last year’s election, when she subbed in for Biden at the 11th hour. At the time, Swift explained her endorsement by saying that she was disturbed by several AI-generated deepfakes that appeared to suggest she and Swifties supported Trump.
A day later, Tump appeared on Fox and Friends and lamented that the singer “seems to always endorse a Democrat and she’ll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace,” following up with a post in which he wrote, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!”
