Ghana’s President, H.E John Dramani Mahama has stated that government appointees will not be permitted to travel first class.

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony for 17 newly appointed ministers at the Jubilee House on Friday, February 7, 2025, he emphasized that his administration would be characterized by modesty and a deep respect for the Ghanaian people.

The President further disclosed that he has directed the Chief of Staff to officially inform ministers and other appointees of an immediate restriction on non-essential travel as part of efforts to cut government spending.

“Any travel that is deemed essential and necessary must be cleared first with the Office of the Chief of Staff, and such travels will have to be taken in modesty—no first class,” he stated.
