If you compiled a list of the best ever game adaptations, Arcane would be a viable candidate for the top spot.
Based on Riot Games’ League Of Legends universe, the animated series follows sisters Vi (Hailee Steinfeld) and Jinx (Ella Purnell) amid a conflict between the utopian city of Piltover and the oppressed underbelly of Zaun.
The show is created by Christian Linke and Alex Yee alongside French animation studio Fortiche, which has previously worked on music videos for Gorillaz and virtual League Of Legends pop group K/DA.
Arcane’s supporting voice cast includes Kevin Alejandro, Katie Leung, Jason Spisak, Toks Olagundoye and Harry Lloyd.
What is the theme song in Arcane?
The theme song is ‘Enemy’ by Imagine Dragons and JID, which is used across both seasons of the show.
The track was released alongside the first season in October 2021, and later featured on Imagine Dragons’ fifth studio album ‘Mercury – Acts 1 & 2‘.
Why did Arcane end with season 2?
According to showrunner Christian Linke, Arcane came to end as the creators finished the story they originally “had in mind” in season two.
Speaking to CinemaBlend, Linke said: “We always had a specific story in mind. Look, you could have stretched it, I’m sure. But for us, it was always just like we started with this in mind. I think there’s also a personal angle to it as creatives. We’ve all seen the TV shows, where clearly the writers are running out of juice.
“How inspired can you stay about the same thing, for how long? It’s been nine years for us, with these characters. I think there’s a responsibility aspect to this, also, where we’re like, this is what we had in mind.”
He added: “This is the story that we had in our heads that we want to tell. It’s irresponsible to stretch this to a point where it feels like we can’t even really do it justice. I think that was a big part of it. We don’t want to overdo it.”
