Ghanaian rap sensation, Eno Barony is advocating for the addition of a ‘Female Artiste of the Year’ category at the Ghana Music Awards.
The award-winning rapper believes that this move would be a significant step forward for women in the music industry.
In an interview on Property FM, the ‘Heavy Load’ rapper emphasized the importance of recognizing female talent in an industry predominantly led by men.
She’s of the opinion that recognizing the potential of female artists in a male-dominated field will not only provide a much-needed boost, but also create a more inclusive and equitable environment.

Eno Barony urged the award organizers to seriously consider her proposal, emphasizing how it could elevate the status of female musicians and enrich Ghana’s music scene.
“Because that will augment our work and the craft of the females will feel appreciated and I know it’ll come. A lot of females keep coming into the music scene and that category will surely come just that we need the push from the media. There should be support for the females especially those in the rap game because the louder they become the more the category will be created for them,” she said.
