Emma Myers has told Wednesday fans in a new interview not to ‘ship “real-life people.”

‘To ship’ is when fans of a show or movie “wishfully regard specific people of fictional characters as being or having the potential to become romantically involved with one another”. On the show Wednesday, fans regularly ’ship the relationship between Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) and her character Enid, willing them to get together romantically.
Myers says she and Ortega joked about the reaction while filming season one but thinks real-life people shouldn’t be dragged into such views.
“I’ve grown up as a big fan of things, so I know how the ‘shipping goes online, so I understand,” she told NME in a new interview, which you can read in full above. “’Ship who you want as long as you’re not dragging real-life people into it.”
She continued: “If you want to ‘ship’ those characters, go for it. We made a couple of jokes about it here and there when filming, but we didn’t think that side of the fandom would be so big and intense. But it’s all in good fun.”
Meanwhile, several famous faces have been added to the cast list for Wednesday season two.
The second season of the supernatural mystery series, which topped Netflix viewership charts as the most popular TV show of all time on the platform, is underway as production has reportedly commenced in Ireland.
The first instalment of The Addams Family spin-off starred Ortega in the lead, along with Catherine Zeta-Jones, Christina Ricci and Game Of Thrones’ star Gwendoline Christie.

Now, a whole host of guest stars have been confirmed for the second season, which is set for a spring 2025 release.
Netflix made the announcement through a teaser trailer, which featured the disembodied hand character, Thing, delivering scripts to the doors of various actors, revealing the characters they will be playing.
Among the new cast are Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper, Joanna Lumley and Thandiwe Newton. Not featured in the video but included in the full list of guest stars is original The Addams Family star Christopher Lloyd, whose role is currently unconfirmed.
Earlier this year, Ortega teased that season two will have “more horror” and is “a lot more action-packed. Each episode will probably feel a little bit more like a movie,” she added.
